Manvendra Singh graduated from SOAS (London) and Hampshire College, Amherst (Massachusetts, USA), with an academic focus on Arab history and politics. He then worked with The Indian Express for about a decade with Defence and National Security as his area of specialisation.
As an MP, Manvendra took that interest into his participation of the Standing Committee on Defence, and continues to pursue that specialisation in his writings. He has actively participated in conferences and seminars across the country, in civilian and military settings, as well as outside of India. Joint operations and multilateral participation are his areas of particular interest. And on that score, he has been part of meetings and discussions at the Pentagon and NATO HQ.
He has authored Campaign Diary, a first-person account of running as a parliamentary candidate, and is currently finishing an eyewitness journal on India’s peacekeeping operations in Sri Lanka (1987-90).
