Lt Gen. H.S. Panag PVSM, AVSM retired from the Indian Army in 2008. He has held many prestigious instructional, staff and command appointments in his career spanning 40 years, including GOC-in-C of Northern Command and Central Command. After his retirement, the General served as a Member of the Armed Forces Tribunal.
He is a veteran of the 1971 India-Pakistan war and has also done a number of tenures in operational and counter insurgency areas. The General mastered the profession of arms through sustained and continuous professional study and is a firm believer in the concept of lifelong learning to pursue excellence.
Today, he is a defence analyst and has contributed numerous articles on strategic and military affairs in various newspapers, magazines and online news portals. He has written 350 articles on strategic and military affairs. He is columnist for the ThePrint since 2018.
