Seshadri Chari

Senior RSS leader, former editor of Organiser, Commentator

Dr Chari is a journalist, author, and an acclaimed commentator on strategic and security issues with a vast experience in the formulation of policies for national security and actionable strategic plans. He was the editor of the English weekly Organiser for 12 years from 1992 to 2004. He was also the Convener of the Foreign Policy Cell of the BJP.

Dr Chari is Professor Emeritus at Savitribai Phule Pune University and Ministry of Defence Chair Professor in the Department of Defense & Strategic Studies. He is presently the Chairman, China Study Centre, and Centre for Indo-Pacific Studies at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE).

He was engaged as consultant on governance, UNDP, posted in Southern Sudan (2006-09) where he worked on projects such as capacity building of political parties, Constitution drafting, facilitation of participation of women in post-conflict democratic set-up and conflict resolution in Southern Sudan.

An alumnus of Mumbai Vidyapeeth (Bombay University), Dr Chari did his B. Com, LLB, and MA in History. For his PhD from Manipal University, his topic was “Regional Dynamics of Indo Pacific Region and Implications of China’s Influence in India’s Extended Neighbourhood.”

He is fluent in multiple languages such as Sanskrit, English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Nepali.
